8 Bit Weapon is an American chiptune music ring formed in Ventura County, California, by Seth and Michelle Sternberger. It was originally created by Seth Sternberger around 1998.[one] Its instruments consists primarily of old 8-chip and 16-fleck computers (with 8 bit audio output) such as the Commodore VIC-xx, Commodore 64, Commodore 128, Commodore Amiga 500, and the Apple Two, besides as game consoles such every bit the Nintendo Amusement Arrangement, Game Boy, Atari 2600, and an Intellivision synthesizer.
The ring started effectually 1998 by remixing Commodore 64 SID tunes like Crazy Comets, Yard.U.L.E., and some Nintendo Northward.E.S. game music such equally Super Mario Bros. ii, and Metroid. Both the SID remixes can be heard on the album titled "Confidential 1.0" and the Nintendo remixes on the band's official website. Later on, they began writing original music using the Commodore 64, Nintendo Game Boy, and Due north.E.Southward., as well as other 8 bit consoles and computers.

Apple Two Digital Music Synthesizer [edit]
On February 9, 2010, 8 Bit Weapon released the Apple Two Digital Music Synthesizer (or D.Thou.S.). Together Michael J. Mahon and 8 Scrap Weapon created the 1st wavetable synthesizer for the Apple IIe, IIc, IIc+ and IIGS computers. The software is designed for live performance and information technology does not require a monitor to work. Information technology supports upward to eight voices, which can exist selected from the 10 on disk, and played (monophonically) from the Apple Two keyboard. It tin can be used to "tape" a functioning for afterward playback also.

In April 2009, Sony Creative Software released "viii Bit Weapon: A Chiptune Odyssey" loop and sample Library. The library contains music loops and samples made by the band of the following computers and video game consoles: Apple II, Commodore 64, NES, Game Male child, and the Atari 2600.[7]
Band members [edit]
Seth Sternberger: Founded the ring around 1998–1999 and is the chief songwriter. He plays Commodore 64/128, Apple IIc, Game Boys, and pb vocals (via vocoder) at alive events.
Michelle Sternberger: Joined the band in October 2006 and writes music for the band as well. She besides has her ain solo releases under the proper name ComputeHer. She plays Commodore 64/128, Apple tree IIe drums, audio-visual drums, and synths at live events.
ComputeHer [edit]
Equally mentioned above, Michelle has a solo band called ComputeHer. Created by Michelle Sternberger in 2005, she makes music using eight-bit computers and video game console sound chips. Also her work with 8 Bit Weaspon, ComputeHer's nigh notable work is her contribution to the Smithsonian American Fine art Museum in Washington D.C. Her music was included in an exhibition called "The Art of Video Games", where she provided the soundtrack to a video of featured video games at the archway of the gallery. This exhibition traveled to multiple cities following its presentation in Washington, D.C., in March 2012.[8]
ComputeHer has performed at many events. She was mentioned in The Wall Street Journal for her performance at the opening of the International Video Game Hall of Fame in Ottuma, Iowa, in 2010.[9] She performed at the Sanrio 50th Ceremony I Love Nerds party.[10] ComputeHer performed at the Smithsonian American Fine art Museum for the Art of Video Games exhibition opening consequence[eleven] in March 2012.
Michelle's past projects include music projects for Marking Mothersbaugh of Devo,[12] Foundation nine Entertainment,[xiii] Sony Creative Software,[14] and King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters DVD.[15]
Michelle'south songs are featured in a video game soundtrack for DeRail Games, Panick Attack, on Xbox Live Market place.[16]

MelBot (2006–2008): Played keyboards at alive events. She is now pursuing her solo career.
Stacey "Superstix" Taylor (2003–2005): She played live acoustic drums at alive events and on the recordings Official Homemade, The Limited Edition EP, and all versions of Vaporware Soundtracks. She is also credited for Game Boy programming and every bit co-writer of various songs on Vaporware Soundtracks.
